Pre-ed session 02: Community-based development: what are we talking about?

The second preliminary education session was based on a critical reading of the theoretical basis of community-based development. What do we actually mean by ‘development’? Is depopulation in Japan avoidable? What are the most common areas of action in community-based development? These were some of the questions that students were asked to think about during a lecture and a workshop, which encouraged students to link today’s subject to last week’s ideas.
